Hayle Town Band

The present band would be totally unrecognisable to the players and officials when the band was reformed in 1973. Harry Rutter was a member of the old Hayle Band, and had been a councillor for many years. In the course of his duties, he came across the instruments of the old band, behind panelling in the Passmore Edwards Institute. The first practice was held at The Laurels, qwhich was the home of another councillor, Leslie Capper. After some time, the Catholic Church kindly allowed them to use their hall for rehearsals, and the band has since grown and flourished. In 2002 Hayle Town Band achieved third place in the UK Brass Band Finals.
